Grants Management Technical Assistance Workshop Series
The Office of Research and Sponsored Program's Grants Management Technical Assistance workshop series is designed to provide continuous access to critical topics and pertinent offices that are critical to expending and managing externally funded grants and contracts.
Time and Effort Certification

As part of this series, this session will review federal guidelines for time and effort certification as well as go over the steps for time and effort reporting and certification. All funded on grants and contracts must submit time and effort reports (monthly for staff and students) and quarterly for faculty. All supervisors must ensure that staff on their projects are completing the time and effort certification process.
Release Time

As part of this series, the release time session will provide the University's steps for processing release time and related budget transfer, etc. This session will also provide deadlines for timely processing of release time requests.
New HR Contract Routing Process

This session will review the new process for electronic routing of HR contracts and prepare attendees to start using this process.
Consultant and Vendor Contracts, Purchasing Card and Expense Vouchers

This session will highlight the university's policy on procurement and share best practices to timely completion and processing of consultant and vendor contracts. Approved uses and steps for processing of the purchasing card and expense vouchers will also be discussed.
Processing Summer Contracts and Updates to the HR Contract Process, Understanding how Indirect Cost Accounts Work, and how to Process Travel Requests and Reimbursements

This session will review the indirect cost reallocation administration and distribution document, discuss the timeline for receipt of indirect cost reallocation funds and review the process for requesting use of indirect cost reallocation funds. The travel request and reimbursement process and timeline will also be reviewed. This session will prepare grant and contract teams to prepare summer contracts for faculty, summer programs involving staff and students, and other projects. Any pertinent updates to the contract routing process will also be highlighted.
Budget Buffett: Budget Transfers, Managing Budgets and the Shadow System

This session will focus on budget management tools to access and manage grant and contract budgets.

The Office of Research and Sponsored Program's Grantsmanship series is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the National Institutes of Health process and priorities for research funding.

As part of this series, this session will provide an overview of the NIH Institutes and Centers, the different funding mechanisms, NIH proposal review process, and how to match funding needs with agency priorities.
NIH Peer Review

This session will review the NIH peer review process and highlights from a mock peer review in order to help faculty understand strategies for a favorable review.
