In 2017 as Interim Provost, he successfully led and managed the university’s largest first class 1,075 students with 6,148 total enrollment. His constant efforts to actively promote student learning and retention contributed to increasing the retention rate for undergraduate students by 2 percent and for graduate students by 5 percent in 2018, leading to the highest-ever student enrollment of 6,320 in the university history.

Before joining Bowie State, Dr. Amoussou served as a Program Director at the National Science Foundation (NSF), where he led programs of national impact and monitored NSF projects.

He was a full professor of computer science at Humboldt State University, part of the California State University System. He also served as founding director of the university’s international office, which provided an institutional infrastructure to promote international education.

Dr. Amoussou earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from the Université de Picardie and Université Paris IX Dauphine, respectively. He holds a doctoral degree in industrial systems engineering and computer science from the Université de Technologie de Compiègne in France.
