How Do We Accommodate Disabilities?
Disability is defined as an individual with an actual impairment (physically or mentally substantially limits one or more major life activities), a record of such an impairment, or regarded as having an impairment.
Bowie State University maintains a policy of equal opportunity for all persons. No person shall be subject to discrimination under any program or activity of the University on the basis of disability.
Some Examples of Discrimination Based on Disability
- A negative comment about someone's disability
- Being denied employment or advancement opportunity because of your disability
- Lack of accomodation for someone's disability
This Is NOT Discrimination Based on Disability
- A disagreement with your supervisor about your performance (Contact Human Resources)
- The operational policies of Dining Services or other campus facilities (Contact Facilties)
- Teasing from a co-worker that's not referencing a disability (Contact Human Resources)
