Bowie State Welcomes Hundreds of Alumni & Friends for Homecoming 2018

BSU Community Reveled in Bulldog Pride & Exciting Homecoming Victory

(BOWIE, Md.) – From the pep rally to the Bulldogs’ Homecoming exciting victory, hundreds of members of the Bowie State University community celebrated their Bulldog pride throughout last week’s events. View photos from the week.

Saturday’s Homecoming Day began with the OTC Parade from Ruby Tuesday in Bowie to the Macy’s in Bowie Town Center. Dozens of groups, including performance troupes from Bowie State and the local community, marched through the city of Bowie and put on a high-energy show. Alumni and friends lined the sidewalks to watch the display of black and gold.     

Later on campus, the Greek organizations participated in the inaugural BBQ cook-off. Putting their skills to the test, the organizations took to their plots throughout the campus and fired up grills. The winner was the Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity.

The Homecoming game brought more excitement as the Bulldogs football team (5-2, 3-1 CIAA) captured a 20-15 win over the Virginia State University Trojans before a nationally televised audience on the Aspire network. Bowie State scored first and maintained the lead throughout the game.

Bulldogs fans celebrated the victory and their love for Bowie State throughout Saturday night with the Bulldog Nation 5^th Quarter, Greek Step Show and OTC After Party. The next afternoon, students grabbed trash bags and litter pickup tools and fanned out around the campus for a Campus Clean-up and Ice Cream Social, sponsored by the Climate Commitment Coordinating Committee (C4) and the Office of Greek Life.

The Bowie State community's Bulldog pride is stronger than ever, as Homecoming 2018 wrapped up with signature style.
