Student Performers Ring in the Season at Holiday Extravaganza

(BOWIE, Md.) – The Holiday Reception & Extravaganza, an annual showcase of Bowie State University performers, will take place Friday, December 6, 2019, in the Fine and Performing Arts Center, with a 5:30 p.m. reception and a 7 p.m. concert that are free and open to the public.

Presented by the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, the concert has become a beloved holiday tradition for the university community, with memorable performances by student groups like the BSU Madrigal Singers and the BSU Gospel Choir. This year, an even more diverse array of student talent will be on display, including selections by the BSU Symphony of Soul Marching Band, as well as dance performances by the BSU Dance Ensemble and IMPACT Dance Ensemble. Expressions BSU will also present several spoken word pieces.

The concert, which will include joyful presentations of holiday favorites, is directed by Professor Gina Lewis, department chairperson, and Dr. William E. Smith from the music technology program.

Before the show at 7 p.m., be sure to come early and join President Aminta H. Breaux at a 5:30 p.m. welcoming reception in the Fine and Performing Arts Center lobby.
