Football Bulldogs Cap Homecoming With a Dominant Win

Fans Treated to a 54-0 Gridiron Blowout Against Bluefield State

(BOWIE, Md.) – The Bowie State Bulldogs shredded Bluefield State University’s defense winning the Homecoming game with a score of 54–0, capping off a joyous day of activities for students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the university.

The Bulldogs amassed 511 yards through the air and on the ground to the delight of Bowie State’s fans. Bluefield State managed to gain a meager 60 yards in total offense for the day, punctuating how Bowie State controlled the contest. 

“Homecoming is a family reunion for alumni, family, friends and students,” said Clyde Doughty, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics & Recreation. “Our Off The Chain 2024 Homecoming was a confluence of fun, family and football. With a resounding Homecoming victory, all Bulldogs enjoyed a beautiful day of excitement and engagement. We are Bowie bold & Bulldog strong!”

The campus was alive all day with thousands of supporters enjoying tailgating, reunions on the Greek plots and a host of fun activities and vendors on Holmes Quad. New public safety protocols and security measures that were implemented this year ensured a fun and safe Homecoming week for all in attendance. Some of these new enhancements included registration for events, additional lighting towers and cameras, and weapons detection systems.
