Bowie State Students Gain Firsthand Legislative Experience During HBCU Shadow Day

(BOWIE, Md.) — Bowie State University (BSU) recently participated in the Legislative Black Caucus' HBCU Shadow Day, an exciting event designed to immerse students in the legislative process while fostering invaluable connections with policymakers. Nine ambitious BSU students were paired with influential legislators, attended pivotal hearings, and even met with the Governor, gaining firsthand experience in the intricacies of state governance. This impactful initiative highlights BSU's unwavering commitment to providing students with meaningful insights into public service and policy-making. 

BSU's participation in HBCU Shadow Day further aligns with its broader mission to offer students opportunities for professional development, leadership growth and civic engagement. By taking part in these events, BSU students gain essential knowledge about the legislative process, which enhances their academic journeys and prepares them for impactful careers in public service and beyond.
