(BOWIE, Md.)—The 2025 CIAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament held from Feb. 25 to March 1 at Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena was a vibrant celebration of athleticism, culture, and community with Bowie State University hosting fans and representatives from the 12 other participating HBCUs.
A standout moment came during the Feb. 28 halftime show, featuring Bowie State alumnus and Tony Award-winning actor Myles Frost. Renowned for his role as Michael Jackson in “MJ: The Musical” on Broadway, Frost earned a 2025 Olivier Award nomination—the U.K.’s highest theater honor—for his London performance last year.
Frost’s return to the CIAA stage sparked excitement, which he shared on social media before the event: “Catch me in B-more on the 28th!!! Doing the national anthem and the halftime show.”
Members of the university’s dance team performed alongside Frost during the halftime show, showcasing their talent and Bulldog pride. The team later posted on social media: “Our 2024-2025 captain and co-captain had an amazing opportunity to perform with Tony Award Winner Myles Frost!”
Fan Fest, held on the tournament’s final two days at the Baltimore Convention Center, offered an immersive celebration of HBCU culture, featuring live performances, celebrity appearances, interactive games, and vendor displays. Attendees enjoyed music from national and local artists, met former and current athletes, and took part in contests and giveaways. Step shows, Greek-letter organization strolls, and educational panels underscored the rich traditions of HBCUs and the CIAA.
