Non-essential employees are mostly teleworking, and classes have shifted to a hybrid model, with in-person and online instruction.

Earth Days


Bowie State University is devoted to reversing the effects of climate change, protecting our environment and keeping our campus clean and green. Earth Day 2020 is Wednesday, April 22.  BSU will celebrate the week of Earth Day with a series of events coordinated by C4.  See the events schedule below from 2019.

Monday, April 22, 2019

C4 members set up a promotional and informational table with games and prizes for awareness of  environmental concerns, issues in topics such as the right way to recycle.  Electronic Pledges will also be available where BSU community members can electronically pledge their commitment to responsible environmental acts.  

 Tuesday, April 23, 2019

Officials from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Prince George’s County Government will present an Earth Day presentation entitled: Rethink: Changing How We Think About Our Resources, with the overall theme of what we as individuals can do to reduce waste going to landfills.  The presentation provides new information and tidbits many of us may not be aware of.

Students passionate about the environment and the environmental injustices surrounding them will share their original pieces of spoken word and poetry in the 5th annual Earth Day Poetry Slam on Wednesday in the Student Center Pub starting at 1pm.  The event will be judged by a panel of judges and top 3 winners receive cash prizes!

C4 is teaming up with Keep Bowie Clean (KBC) and Campus Activities Board (CAB) to show school spirit and our commitment to keeping the BSU campus clean and trash free. This event takes place after a week long TorchFest event.
