Self-Administered COVID-19 Testing Option Coming Soon

October 14, 2021

With Bowie State’s weekly COVID-19 testing program averaging nearly a thousand or more test each week, plans are being finalized to offer a self-testing option to reduce the lines and wait time at the testing center in Thurgood Marshall Library. The program will begin with faculty and staff in the next few weeks and later expand to include students.

The voluntary self-administered testing program will offer greater convenience and increased privacy with test collection tubes available for pickup at the ticket window of the Fine and Performing Arts Center. Participants will be able to elect to use the self-administered test or the testing center at their convenience. An instructional video provides a quick overview of the simple steps for taking the self-administered test:

Details about procedures for participating in the self-administered option will be provided in the coming days.

Don’t Forget – Everyone on Campus Must Test

To help maintain a safe campus environment, everyone on campus must adhere to a regular COVID-19 testing schedule. Be sure you know your schedule:

  • Vaccinated persons – test once every 30 days
  • Persons with exemptions – test twice each week
  • Your next scheduled test date is indicated at the bottom of your Wellness Portal badge

Anyone experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms should test immediately. Everyone is welcome to test as frequently as desired.

Still not Vaccinated?

BSU continues to offer COVID-19 vaccinations in the Wellness Center by appointment through the Wellness Portal or walk-in.  Unvaccinated students, faculty and staff are encouraged to talk with your medical professional for answers to your questions regarding the vaccines. The health and safety of every member of our Bulldog community remains our top priority.

If you have any questions about the requirements for the return to campus, please email and monitor the COVID-19 Updates web section for the latest information.
