Non-essential employees are mostly teleworking, and classes have shifted to a hybrid model, with in-person and online instruction.

Traditional Residence Halls

Bowie State has five traditional residence halls on campus, each with its own amenities and distinct community atmosphere. The halls feature double rooms or suites with community bathrooms and showers.

 Harriet Tubman Hall

Building Type: Tubman Hall is a traditional three-story residence hall with double rooms and community bathrooms and showers
Occupancy: 159 residents 
Gender: Female 
Classification: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Seniors
Staffing: One full-time resident director and five resident assistants
Building Amenities: Hall amenities include a laundry facility in the basement, air conditioning units in student rooms, and a lounge for studying, programs, and socializing. The lounge, located off the lobby, also includes vending machines and cable TV.

Harriet Tubman Hall opened in 1921 and is the oldest building on the campus of Bowie State University. Named after the leader of the Underground Railroad and heroine to the African American race, this residence hall is known for having a strong sense of community. It currently houses approximately 159 female students. Tubman is very cozy and personal and it cultivates an environment that fosters the development of healthy, well-rounded young women.

 Towers Hall

Building Type: Six-story high rise with double rooms and community bathrooms
Occupancy: 194 residents
Gender: Female
Classification: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Seniors
Staffing: One full-time resident director and five resident assistants
Building Amenities: Hall amenities include laundry facilities and kitchenettes on alternating floors and a lounge for studying, programs, and socializing. The lounge, located off the lobby, also includes vending machines and cable TV.

 Dwight Oliver Holmes Hall

Building Type: Traditional three-story residence hall with double rooms and community bathrooms and showers
Occupancy: 124 residents
Gender: Male
Classification: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Seniors
Staffing: One full-time resident director and three resident assistants
Building Amenities: Hall amenities include a laundry facility on the first floor, air conditioning units in student rooms, and a lounge for studying, programs, and socializing. The kitchen is located on the third floor and includes a small lounge area. The lobby has cableTV and vending machines.

 Alex Haley Residential Complex

Building Type: Six-story suite style
Occupancy: 300 residents
Gender: Male and female
Classification: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Seniors
Staffing: One full-time resident director and six resident assistants
Building Amenities: Hall amenities include a laundry facility, floor lounges and kitchenettes on each floor, and a lounge. The lounge, located off the lobby, is utilized for studying, programs, classes, and also has cable TV. Other amenities include a conference room, computer lab, and the C-Store, Bowie State University's own convenience store.

 Lucretia Kennard Hall

Building Type: Traditional three-story residence hall with double rooms and community bathrooms, and showers
Occupancy: 81 residents
Gender: Male
Classification: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Seniors
Staffing: One full-time resident director and three resident assistants
Building Amenities: Hall amenities include a laundry facility and vending machines in the basement and the lounge. The lounge is located off the lobby and is utilized for studying, programs, classes, and also has cable TV.
