Technology Transfer & Innovation Office

The Bowie State University Technology Transfer and Innovation Office aims to identify the high impact research and develop key resources for intellectual property management & protection, technology transfer and commercialization.

The Office is working closely with the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs, various research centers in the campus,  the Enterpreneurship & Innovation Center and Economic Development Office to coordinate the effort to devise a strategy to support Bowie State in leveraging intellectual property, which includes evaluating university assets and associated intellectual property policies, processes and ecosystems. This strategy will allow Bowie State to focus on areas for improvement and opportunities, engaging, educating and training faculty, students and other university stakeholders. 

Office Goals

  • Create  a culture of innovation throughout the campus that will benefit not only the students and faculty but also the university and its stakeholders
  • Fostering collaboration and partnerships with industry and create faculty-led new ventures, enabling students to be involved in cutting-edge research
  • Expand support for intellectual property protection, technology transfer and commercialization of technologies and other innovative products at BSU
  • Provide the education and training as well as expertise to support all university stakeholders in the areas of IP, tech transfer and commercialization
  • Build long-term sustainable strategic ecosystems within the university and the surrounding community
