Protecting Our Community: Updates

Collective Steps to Move Forward

As mid-term week ends at Bowie State University, we want to extend heartfelt thanks to our alumni, faculty and staff for starting the week with a compassionate “welcome back” for our students returning to classes on Monday. Your expressions of warm Bulldog love, together with the variety of activities and resources to support emotional well-being were greatly appreciated by our students.

As the campus community continues to recover from the act of violence that disrupted our sense of safety, we are instituting this “Protecting Our Community” message as a weekly distribution to provide updates and seek feedback on issues of campus safety and community well-being.

University shared governance leadership remains vigilant in assessing the state of our safety measures and seeking input from their respective constituents to guide the steps to be taken to protect the future of our BSU home. If you have ideas, please share them with your respective leaders. You can review the measures underway and others under consideration in the safety message of October 13.

Additional safety training will be offered by our Campus Police including how to respond to emergency alerts from the Bowie Electronic Emergency System (BEES). Know that if immediate action is required, specific instructions will be included in the alert message. If you are not receiving BEES Alerts, please sign up at  https://bowiestate.info/bees

Protecting our community will take all of us, working together to define what is best for Bowie State. Remember that everyone has a role to play, and your voice is important.
