BSU Responds to Police Emergency
Following last night’s BEES Alert, I would like to thank the campus community for quickly responding to the request to remain indoors to enable police agencies to address the emergency situation near our campus. I also want to thank the U.S. Marshall’s Office, Maryland State Police, Prince George’s County, Bowie City and other police agencies that responded to assist.
Bowie State University Police were notified about 9:15 p.m. that Marshals were pursuing fugitive Jason Billingsley, who was wanted for a homicide that occurred on September 25, 2023, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was apprehended without incident at approximately 11:15 p.m. on the southbound MARC station platform.
There is nothing more important than the safety and well-being of our students, faculty and staff. Our police officers made it a priority to ensure that everyone on campus was safe by issuing the BEES Alert and restricting access to campus entrances. I can’t thank them enough for their quick response to the situation and support of efforts to apprehend this dangerous criminal.
Please be reminded that each member of the community has a responsibility to keep our campus safe. Immediately report any suspicious activity to Campus Police at 301-860-4040. I encourage everyone to remember to wear your name badge when on campus and register to receive emergency alerts.
