BSU Safety Precautions in Wake of Morgan State University Incident
On behalf of Bowie State University, I want to extend my thoughts and prayers to the Morgan State University community following the tragic shooting on their campus last night. This is not a normal day, nor should it be. As a sister HBCU, we at Bowie State are deeply concerned about the violent acts that continue to encroach upon our campuses. We stand against violence and hope for the speedy recovery of those who were injured last night. We also hope for the healing for the Morgan State community as they deal with this trauma and disruption of their homecoming activities.
In the wake of this incident Bowie State has significantly enhanced security measures for the remaining activities of the BSU Homecoming Week. Our BSU Campus Police have engaged partners from other local police agencies to provide a heightened security presence throughout the campus and at major events through the weekend. There is nothing more important than the safety and well-being of our students, faculty and staff, and we are taking every precaution to deter any threats to the campus.
I ask each member of our campus community take on the responsibility to do their part to keep our campus safe throughout the year. Immediately report any suspicious activity to Campus Police at 301-860-4040 or activate any of the Blue Light phones for immediate contact with BSU Police. I encourage everyone to remember to wear your Bulldog Card when on campus and register to receive BEES emergency alerts.
