Due to inclement weather, Bowie State University will be closed January 26-27, 2026. All classes, office operations and on-campus activities are canceled. Residence halls will remain open. Statement on the Violence in Charlottesville, Virginia

Over the weekend, the world witnessed a terrifying display of racially motivated hate and violence that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia. I am deeply saddened by the loss of life and injuries sustained. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims of these tragic events. The Bowie State University campus community stands united with the University of Virginia and the city of Charlottesville against hatred and violence and in our commitment to diversity and inclusion. As a community of diverse learners, Bowie State University encourages and values open and free dialogue as a hallmark of the teaching and learning experience. Violence, hate, and intolerance have no place in our society. Let’s continue to remember those who were hurt this weekend and those in mourning.
