A Message from the President
May 20, 2019
Thank You to the Bowie State University Campus Community
There are no words to fully express my gratitude and pride for the teamwork that brought about the memorable 154th commencement ceremonies held this past Friday. Let me begin by extending my thanks and praise to all who contributed to the highly successful event. By all accounts, our graduates, their families and friends enjoyed the event and the activities, before and after the official ceremony.
It was truly a remarkable feat in many ways, including the management and execution of logistics, entertainment, parking and traffic control, food service, landscaping, safety and security, clean-up and maintenance, collaborations across academic and non-academic units and the cooperation of Mother Nature that brought mostly the sun to shine on our graduates and their families. I especially want to thank the leadership and members of the Commencement Steering Committee and the leadership and members of the Commencement Logistics Taskforce. The day could not have been possible without the focus and determination of these special teams under the combined leadership of Dr. Shirelle Briscoe, Ms. Annette Wedderburn and Mr. Michael Atkins.
It is because of the committed and dedicated people of the Bowie State University Community—faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of BSU, that the country, and indeed the world watching the event, now know that BSU is a very special place. We demonstrated to our guests and audiences around the world on Friday that BSU is thriving and growing in academic excellence, student success and the long-term viability, and we are truly Racing to Excellence.
We are BSU—Bulldogs, and forever BSU4 Life. Thank you!
