Transition in Graduate School Leadership

I write to share that the search for a new dean of graduate studies has failed. The university will take this opportunity to assess graduate studies at Bowie State University. I want to thank the members of the search committee for their hard work and commitment throughout the process.

We will be taking steps to bring in an experienced consultant prior to the end of the fall semester to both assess the school of graduate studies to help chart a course in this changed environment for higher education, and to provide oversight during this upcoming academic year. Dr. Cosmas Nwokeafor will transition from the Interim Dean role effective Oct. 27, 2023. It is our intent to develop a strategy for the school of graduate studies aligned to our new strategic plan.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Nwokeafor for his many years of dedicated service to our graduate students and the entire university. This fall the university celebrates a significant surge in graduate enrollment and several new graduate programs have been added in the past year positioning the university for continued growth in this area.
