Bowie State University Nursing Accreditation Reaffirmed
I am pleased to announce that the university’s baccalaureate nursing program has had its full accreditation reaffirmed by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) through March 2023. This news affirms that our nursing program meets all of the requirements for full accreditation with no stipulations. The graduate nursing program is also fully accredited by ACEN.The decision by ACEN, made at its March 2019 meeting, follows a university self-study process demonstrating evidence of programmatic and curriculum enhancements, along with improvements in the pass rate of students taking the NCLEX-RN examination for licensure.
I want to thank the administrators, faculty, staff and students in the Department of Nursing for their excellent work in preparing for the ACEN site visit to validate the quality of our program. I commend the work that is ongoing to prepare our students to function as high-quality professionals in the medical community. This achievement is another example of the university’s commitment to quality teaching and learning that is reflected in the Racing to Excellence Strategic Plan.
