Passing of Dr. Sadanand Srivastava

I am deeply saddened to inform you that former Department of Computer Science chairperson and emeritus professor, Dr. Sadanand Srivastava, has passed away.

Dr. Srivastava was a full-time faculty member at Bowie State for 45 years. He was the founding chairperson of the Department of Computer Science, a position he held until 2011. He was instrumental in the founding of the computer technology program, doctoral program in computer science and the Bowie Satellite Operations and Control Center (BSOCC).

Because of his invaluable contributions to the department, he received the College of Arts and Sciences Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015.

After retirement, he continued to teach in the Department of Computer Science as an adjunct professor and emeritus professor. Dr. Srivastava was an extraordinary educator, leader, mentor and friend. He will be greatly missed.
