Important Professional Development Opportunity
I encourage all Bowie State University faculty and staff to join me at this year’s University System of Maryland Women’s Forum Virtual Conference on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The distinguished speakers include the Honorable Adrienne Jones, Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates. The conference theme of “Ever Evolving” focuses on empowering, celebrating, inspiring and educating female professionals in the midst of two pandemics: COVID-19 and racial/social injustices.
Registration should be completed online, and the cost is $40 per person for USM faculty and staff. A limited number of tickets remain. Attending this conference is considered professional development, and I encourage all division and department supervisors to use training funds to cover the cost. Since this event is completely virtual, it is even easier to attend this year, and I hope that all employees, regardless of gender, would take the opportunity to attend.
Tanya Jones, our Assistant Procurement Officer, is this year’s USM Women’s Forum Chair, and has done a wonderful job leading the effort to plan this important program. I am looking forward to seeing many of you at the conference, showing what it means to be Bowie BOLD.
