(BOWIE, Md.) – A Bowie State University undergraduate student will have the chance to present his research on mobile phone viruses to Congressional members next month at a Capitol Hill showcase of student research.
Jesuye David, a junior computer science major, is one of 60 top student researchers, selected from hundreds of applicants, will share their projects and meet their representatives in the 21st annual Posters on the Hill, sponsored by the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) on April 25-26. Guided by Bowie State computer science professor Soo-Yeon Ji, David analyzed the behaviors of various viruses on smartphones, as well as how to detect and compare them.
The Council on Undergraduate Research hosts Posters on the Hill to educate Congressional members about research and education programs that use federal funds.
Over the years, several Bowie State students have presented research at the council’s national and international conferences. Senior biology major Alusline Bangura will present DNA barcoding research, led by Professor George Ude, at the CUR national conference in Memphis, Tennessee. Last year, Julian McCormick (’16) attended the inaugural CUR World Conference in Qatar and presented DNA barcoding research, also led by Dr. Ude.
