BSU Golden Girls Cheer Team Places Third in National Competition

Team's Biggest Event on National Stage a 'Great Way to End Our Season'

(BOWIE, Md.) – The Bowie State University cheerleading team placed third last weekend in the annual Reach the Beach All Star & College Nationals, one of the largest cheer competitions on the East Coast.

The two-day event, sponsored by Epic Brand on April 1-2 in Ocean City, Maryland, was the team’s biggest competition on a national level.

“The team and coaches are excited and happy to make it to this stage,” said Thomasina Boardley, head coach for the Golden Girls. “This was a goal for me, and I’m proud of the team for helping to achieve it. It’s a great way to end our season!”

Boardley said that the Golden Girls have only participated in competitions for the past three years, and she is looking forward to future opportunities to showcase the students’ talent.
