Honor BSU Founding, Dr. Burnim’s Legacy at Founders Day Awards Gala
Proceeds to Support the BSU Endowed Chair Fund

(BOWIE, Md.) – Get set to celebrate the founding of Bowie State University and the legacy of President Mickey L. Burnim at the annual Founders Day Awards Gala on Saturday, April 22 at the MGM National Harbor, while supporting the establishment of the university's first endowed chair position.
Enjoy a powerhouse performance from Grammy Award-winning artist Stephanie Mills, one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary music. Reporter Karen Campbell, formerly of WBFF-FOX45 in Baltimore, and radio personality Marcellus “The Bassman” Shepard will serve as local celebrity hosts.
The black-tie Founders Day Awards Gala is a signature fundraiser held to honor the heritage of Bowie State University and supporters who have distinguished themselves through their service. This year, President Burnim will be the only honoree. As Dr. Burnim’s last gala before retiring as Bowie State’s ninth president, it will recognize the university’s growth and accomplishments achieved during his administration.
Dignitaries and friends from around the region will join the Bowie State community to recognize Dr. Burnim and the university’s impact on the community. Proceeds from the gala will benefit the campaign for the BSU Endowed Chair Fund to allow the university to develop its first permanent endowment fund to support a faculty position.
