Aspiring Student Entrepreneurs Urged to Join Bulldog Pitch Competition

Top Six BSU Students to Compete for Cash Prizes April 3

(BOWIE, Md.) – Bowie State University students who think they have the next big idea to start their own business are encouraged to apply for the Bulldog Pitch Competition, hosted by the BSU Entrepreneurship Academy. The deadline to apply is February 26, 2019.

This year’s event, which takes place Wednesday, April 3, 2019, from 4-6:30 p.m. in the Student Center, will feature live presentations by the top six finalists, who will compete for cash prizes ranging from $250 – $1,000. They will be evaluated on presentation, innovation, business model and other criteria by a panel of local business leaders, as well as the audience for the $250 Crowd Favorite Award.

Some students, like senior business administration majors Richard Foster and Maris Screen, who participated in past BSU idea competitions, have launched successful businesses, with the support of the Entrepreneurship Academy. Foster and Screen teamed up to launch Student City Suds, a full-service laundry company, that landed a contract with Bowie State.

Any BSU student, regardless of degree program or class year, can apply to participate in the competition, either as an individual or in teams of up to four people. The top 12 semi-finalists will compete in a private competition with the panel of judges before being narrowed to the six finalists for the April 3 event.

Before applying, students must register for and attend a Bulldog Pitch Competition information session:
