(BOWIE, Md.) – Bowie State University freshman Davon Carroll was the lone competitor in the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, held in Pittsburg, Kansas, at the Robert W. Plaster Center.

Carroll first competed in the men's 60-meter dash and the first-year runner placed 15th with the time of 6.93 in the preliminary race. In the 200-meter dash preliminary race, Carroll was timed at 21.87 and finished 15th to end his NCAA Championship bid.

"I'm so proud of this freshman Davon Carroll who had a choice to go anywhere, and he chose Bowie State University. He is a humble young man that doesn't let his wins go to his head. Davon was a stellar high school athlete and this year as a freshman, he was able to perform well to not just qualify for nationals but make it to the big dance," said BSU track and field coach Michelle Latimer.
