(BOWIE, Md.) – The Bowie State University Entrepreneurship Academy[BROKEN LINK] has teamed up with the BSU International Education Office to host a weeklong set of events to encourage students and the larger university community to learn more about opportunities to creatively solve problems and develop new innovations with an international perspective during Global Entrepreneurship Week Nov. 16-20.

The events bring together entrepreneurs, students, business leaders, faculty and others to celebrate global entrepreneurship and connect with more than 15 of the Entrepreneurship Academy's partners in Prince George's County and around the world.

One event, a virtual idea pitch competition called "Let's Break the Ice" on Nov. 19 at 3 p.m., is hosted by Fortune magazine's Most Powerful Woman, Mei Xu, founder of Chesapeake Bay Candle and e-commerce platform, Yes She May. Students competing in the competition will have the opportunity to win $10,000 cash award from Xu’s foundation. Xu is working with Bowie State on a future partnership to develop women entrepreneurs at the university.

Designated by the Kauffman Foundation, Global Entrepreneurship Week is celebrated each November to encourage community organizations to host thousands of events and competitions around the world to inspire millions to engage in entrepreneurial activity.
