Moguls in the Making Primes Students with Entrepreneurial Dreams
BSU Students Participate for the First Time in the National Business Pitch Competition
(BOWIE, Md.) – Five Bowie State University students, with dreams to turn their ideas into a business, are vying for top honors in a national business pitch competition Oct. 8-11, presented by Ally Financial Inc., Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and entertainer and entrepreneur Big Sean's foundation, the Sean Anderson Foundation.
The 2nd annual Moguls in the Making offers 50 students from 10 historically black college and universities (HBCUs) — grouped into teams of five — the opportunity to develop and present business plans to solve key issues in the context of today's economic and social climate. Winners receive scholarships and internship opportunities with Ally.

The Bowie State team members are:
- Jaya LaPrade (team captain), sport management major
- Andrei Carillo, computer science major
- Nicolas DeLeon, computer science major
- Sean Roberts, computer technology major
- Mauri Winfree, business administration major
The event will showcase the diversity of ideas, thoughts and experiences these students can offer the business world, as well as provide students with an opportunity to learn and practice vital skills. Six of the 2019 Moguls in the Making participants have joined Ally as full-time employees.
“I know we have a great team that is going to represent the university at this event,” said Rosetta Price, assistant director for BSU’s Career Development Center and the BSU liaison for TMCF programs. “I would like to commend them for the hard work of completing the application and meeting to discuss how they are going to work together as a team. They have just done a tremendous job with completing everything that was required.”
