Bowie State Women Bowlers Capture CIAA Championship for the Sixth Year

Cayla Snowden Named MVP While Andrew Campbell Is Coach of the Year

(BOWIE, Md.) – The Bowie State Women’s Bowling team will be traveling to Columbus, Ohio next month to participate in the NCAA 2022 National Collegiate Bowling Championship competition. This is the team’s reward for winning their 6^th straight CIAA Women’s Bowling Championship last weekend in Salem, Virginia.

Bowie State’s Cayla Snowden received the Food Lion Most Valuable Player Award for her outstanding contributions during the two days of bowling tournament competition.

Fayetteville State advanced to the final round of the CIAA tournament to face Bowie State losing for the fourth consecutive time to the Bulldogs. Pardon the pun, but Bowie State’s Women’s Bowling Team is on a roll that they believe will take them deep into the NCAA Women’s Bowling Championship tournament.

 “Winning the CIAA Women’s Bowling Tournament was great for our scholar athletes,” said Andrew Campbell, head coach of the Bulldogs Women’s Bowling team. “These young women are ambassadors of the university and committed to performing to the best of their ability in the classroom and while on the lanes.   They are a joy to coach and are very passionate about winning. We’re going to Columbus with one goal in mind and that is to win the 2022 NCAA Women’s Bowling Championship,” said Campbell.

Coach Campbell was also recognized by the CIAA and named the 2021-2022 Women’s Bowling Coach of the Year. The Bulldogs have about two and a half weeks to prepare for the tournament, which will be held on April 15 and 16 in Columbus.
