(BOWIE, Md.) – Bowie State University will host panels on animation, fashion design and other topics in conjunction with the inaugural Prince George’s County Film Festival (PGFF) to be held Sept. 22-25 at the MGM National Harbor, Sunset Room at National Harbor, and the university. Bowie State will host events on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Fine and Performing Arts Center.

Under the auspice of the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council, the festival is designed to bolster filmmakers by providing a platform to showcase their films and a dedicated space to network with peers, industry representatives and creatives.

“We view this as a great opportunity for residents in Prince George’s County and the greater metropolitan D.C. area to be introduced to some of the talented filmmakers in the region,” said Tewodross Williams, professor and chair of the Department of fine and Performing Arts at Bowie State. “There will be an acting workshop, discussions about current trends in animation, script writing and legal protection and financing films. Virtual screenings of films will be held all day.”

“We are excited to partner with Experience Prince George’s and Bowie State University to expand the possibilities for film and filmmakers in the County.” says Rhonda Dallas, Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council CEO and Chief Curator. “The goal of PGFF 2022 is to not only showcase Prince George’s County as a blossoming film making destination, but also highlight the best of cinema in Prince George’s County and support filmmakers, animators, digital artists, digital creators, and film enthusiasts by creating a transformational attendee experience.”

PGFF 2022 will convene local and national filmmakers, film enthusiasts, actors, producers, animators, writers, digital creators and stakeholders throughout Prince George’s County for a celebration of film. “We are thrilled to present four days of dynamic programming including virtual film screenings, receptions, social networking opportunities, relevant panel discussions and Q&As with notable filmmakers, awards, a digital art exhibit and much more.” says Donna Foster, general manager of the Prince George’s Film Office.
