Bowie State Nursing Department Receives $10,000 Donation From Links Inc.

Group’s Donation to Fund Scholarships and Medical Equipment

(BOWIE, Md.) – A local women’s organization made a sizable contribution to Bowie State University’s Department of Nursing, which will be used to support students and other departmental operations.

The Mount Rose chapter of Links Inc. presented the nursing department with a $10,000 donation, which would fund scholarships and purchase medical equipment for use in class and the simulation rooms. Dr. Jacqueline Hill, chair of the nursing department, said every contribution helps grow the nursing programs and expressed her gratitude for the donation.

“We’re so honored to receive this money so we can assist in providing scholarships for our students, as well as provide equipment such as blood pressure pumps and stethoscopes.” said Dr. Hill.

Rosalind Daniel-Walker, president of the Mount Rose chapter of Links Inc., visited the campus to present the award to Dr. Hill and Bowie State President Aminta Breaux as well as tour the facilities in the nursing department. She mentioned the demand for nursing is great and believed supporting the education of students working to meet that need was a worthy endeavor for the group.

“We have the beautiful opportunity to come and witness the nursing department here at Bowie State University,” said Daniel-Walker. “We were very impressed. We know the need for nurses in the country, and we’d like to help promote that.”

“I feel honored that the Mount Rose chapter of the Links chose Bowie State University, specifically our nursing department, to give this wonderful contribution and investment in our program and students,” added Dr. Breaux. “They have seen the excellence on the campus, and they’re saying to us we’re worthy of this investment.”
