(BOWIE, Md.) – It’s time to break out the singing voices, as the Bowie State University Choir prepares to host the Community Messiah Sing Along at the Fine and Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. A mix and mingle reception will take place at 7 p.m. before the show.
Featured guest artists include Metropolitan Opera’s Angeli Ferrette, Howard University’s Kehembe Eichelberger, local tenor singer Charles Miller, UK Opera Theater’s Marvin McCoy, Columbia College Chicago’s G. Thomas Allen and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s Clarence Bell II. Additionally, the University Choir will be joined by a community orchestra and a youth choir made up of students from Prince George’s, Montgomery and Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
Choir Director Brandon Felder said the audience can expect to hear a variety of music with influences from gospel, jazz and holiday favorites. It’s a holiday show with a Bowie State twist that everyone can enjoy.
“It’s a lot of music, but it’s going to be well worth your time,” said Felder. “We’re bridging generations and trying to make sure music continues to have that healing power.”
