Bowie State University Hosts Inaugural Native American Pow Wow

(BOWIE, Md.) – Bowie State University will host the inaugural Native American Pow Wow on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 11am-6pm at the McKeldin Gym as the campus community gathers to celebrate Native American Heritage Month.
This will be the first authentic ceremonial pow wow held at an HBCU in Maryland. Enjoy a day of cultural experiences and learn about the social justice issue facing the Native American community. Additionally, Bowie State will honor and recognize all active and former military members as part of Veterans’ Day weekend.
Event highlights include:
- Native American ceremonial music and dance performances
- Authentic festive foods
- Native American vendors
- Activities for children
- Free giveaways,
- Ancestry DNA kits to trace Native American heritage
The pow wow is free and open to all ages and ethnicities.
Free parking will be available in the H/I lots behind McKeldin Gym.
