U.S. News & World Report Ranks Bowie State University Among 2023-2024 Best Graduate Schools

(BOWIE, Md.) – Bowie State University’s (BSU) computer science, education and public administration graduate programs were ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for their level of excellence.
Designed for prospective students looking to further their education beyond college, the Best Graduate Schools rankings evaluate programs in a variety of disciplines, including business, education, engineering, law, medicine and nursing.
Bowie State’s graduate computer science program enables students to design new algorithms, analyze computer language theory, research and develop new computer systems and software and delve into virtual reality, artificial intelligence, robotics, data science and cybersecurity. Individuals can earn their master’s degree while working toward a doctoral degree.
The master’s in public administration provides administrators, analysts, general managers, and others in the public sector and public - oriented organizations theory and application of new technologies. BSU’s graduate program also develops and strengthens students’ research and analytical skills enabling them to perform problem solving activities cutting across social, economic and the political landscape that comprises public administration.
Educators have numerous options to pursue an advanced degree in the College of Education’s graduate school. Masters degrees are offered in numerous specialty areas including special education, school psychology, school counseling, reading education, mental health counseling, elementary & secondary school administration, counseling psychology, culturally responsive teacher leadership and teaching (MAT). Individuals can also pursue a doctorate in educational leadership.
“Our goal is to increase the number of our graduate school programs ranked by U.S. News and World Report in upcoming years as we enhance our course offerings and add new graduate degree programs,” said Dr. Cosmas U. Nwokeafor, Dean of the Graduate School. “It’s our job to provide our students with a high quality graduate school experience while we prepare them for a workplace this is changing every day.”
By collecting graduate school data annually, U.S. News is able to present the most current figures on enrollment, job placement, faculty and other critical quality indicators that help prospective students make informed decisions.
