Bowie State’s Anii Harris, Jolisa Williams Earn Conference Honors

(BOWIE, Md.) – A pair of Bulldogs received two of the highest individual conference awards from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). Junior guard Anii Harris was selected as the 2023-2024 CIAA Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and Dr. Jolisa Williams was named the 2023-24 John Holley Sports Information Director of the Year. 
 
Harris started all 27 games this season for the Bulldogs, scoring in double figures in 26-of-27 games played, including 16 20-point games and a career-high 31 points against Palm Beach Atlantic on Dec. 18, 2023. Harris led the CIAA in scoring at 19.3 points per game and was fifth in the conference in field goal percentage, shooting 42% from the floor. She earned CIAA Player of the Week four times this season and hit the 1,000th career mark against Virginia State on Feb. 7.  Harris currently ranks 11th all-time on the Bulldogs scoring list. Also an exemplary student, Harris boasts 3.29 GPA, which includes a 4.0 during Fall 2023. Harris is majoring in sport management and is expected to graduate from Bowie State in the Spring of 2025. 

Dr. Williams was named Sports Information Director of the Year during Tuesday’s CIAA Spring Administrators Awards celebration. It’s the third time Dr. Williams has received this honor, and the first at Bowie State.

"It wouldn't be possible for me to receive this award without my student interns, also known as the BSU Athletic Media Creative Team, as well as the relationships built between my vice president for intercollegiate athletics and recreation Clyde Doughty, Jr., our coaching staff, administration, and most importantly our student-athletes at BSU. I sincerely share this award with my other 12 sport communicator professionals within the CIAA and my BSU creative student team."
