Leadership Takes Flight With Google Cloud at Bowie State

Bowie State University reached new heights with the Google Cloud Regional Leadership Symposium on Oct. 6, 2025, uniting students, faculty and professionals for a dynamic day of learning and connection. The event featured leaders from technology, media, sports, entrepreneurship and humanitarian fields who shared real-world insight on leadership, career development and the role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future.
Held in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, the one-day symposium was sponsored by Google Cloud and coordinated by Professor Al Reynolds of the Visual Communication & Digital Media Arts program. The 2025 theme, “Real talk, real actions, real connections,” guided sessions that explored business frameworks, mental health, technology innovation and professional growth.
“Bringing Google Cloud to the campus of Bowie State University was no small feat, but it has been my honor, especially in service to the students,” said Reynolds. “Google Cloud is a tech giant of global magnitude, and connecting them with students here and across the region is momentous for networking and relationship building. I’m glad that I could be a connector to highlight the boldness of Bowie State Bulldogs.”
The newly opened Martin Luther King, Jr. Center provided a spacious auditorium for the keynote panel and collaborative spaces for breakout sessions. These smaller discussions gave participants opportunities to engage in candid conversations about workplace culture and professional development.
Kalani Buggs, a junior communications major, praised the event’s value for students.
“The event went extremely well,” said Buggs. “I loved how there were so many different opportunities for students to connect in their field while also gaining a better understanding of topics related to artificial intelligence, specifically Google AI. This event was worthwhile and beneficial toward a student’s future simply because it offered multiple career opportunities, more knowledge about what they have to offer, and overall experience in everyone’s respective fields.”
Bowie State’s focus on preparing students through academics, professional certifications and entrepreneurship made it an ideal partner for Google Cloud. Johnetta Hardy, executive director of the Entrepreneurship Innovation Center, reflected on the collaboration with pride.
“Bowie State University has tremendous students with tremendous capabilities and qualities,” said Hardy. “Sitting on the panel about internships, I really wanted to encourage students to be of service and be invaluable, which is what we’re instilling in them here.”
Hosting the Google Cloud Leadership Symposium reinforces Bowie State University’s mission to educate, empower and inspire the next generation of leaders to meet the needs of a global society while embracing the future with bold determination.
