Future Bulldogs Get a Bold First Look at Bowie State

Prospective students and their families got an inside look at life as a Bulldog on Oct. 3, when Bowie State University hosted its 2026 Undergraduate Open House.
Guests were greeted by the high-energy sound of the Symphony of Soul Marching Band and the enthusiasm of New Student Orientation leaders as they arrived at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center. Inside, presentations covered how to prepare for college, next steps in the admissions process and what it’s like to live on campus.
“We want future Bulldogs to experience the amazing opportunities BSU offers and to see themselves in our programs and our community,” said Danielle Epps, assistant vice president of Enrollment Management & Student Affairs. “Our faculty and staff help make that happen by creating a welcoming, supportive environment where students and families feel at home and can picture themselves here.”
The afternoon wrapped up with campus tours and an academic and resource fair, where future students connected with academic departments and learned about the services that help Bulldogs succeed.
Hosted each year by the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, the open house is often a family’s first step in the college decision and a firsthand introduction to the bold community that makes Maryland’s first historically Black university a top choice.
