Thesis Statement

College athletics at Bowie State University features revenue-generating sports that are advertised for the department. Football and basketball are the two sports teams that are primarily highlighted and showcased. Public advertising promotions for both sports include: season calendars, constant game coverage, photographer at home and away games, immediate website updates, and a banner at the Bowie Town Center. The other sports teams get public advertising promotions by an email blast to the campus, advertising on the University calendar, and possibly a photographer at home competitions. The concept for my senior thesis is to enhance the advertising and inclusivity of college athletics here at Bowie State University with a new logo, signage, magazine, mobile app, and website design for all University sports teams. By making these enhancements for the department, it will help increase potential recruits for the smaller sports as well as the larger sports. Which will also have the potential to help generate revenue for the department with potential sponsors and more alumni donations. 

  • The journey of pursuing my passion in Art was never in the original plan. Growing up sports consumed my life and art was a hobby where I explored my passion for art in school. My journey was full of real life lessons as I reflect on my first college experience where I was majoring in Criminal Justice to land a “real job” and I dropped out. After a two-year break full of hardships and lessons learned I realized how important it is to align your purpose, passion, and your actions. There have been many struggles over these past four years, I can say it was worth it all. I found a way to take the passion I have for art and for sports and combine them into one.
