It's Our Love

By Amanda Addo

We've got the same eyes from when we were younger

The ones that gaze into the window of a sensitive child

I hope our love will become neutralized

in the ebb and flow of this life, into the next

you are my island in the sun,

I await to grow into this home with you,

celebrating in the garden of our reparation tree

I hope our love is when the moon stares at you and the

birds chirp before the rest of the world awakes

and maybe our tree in the garden

will whisper to forgive the past versions of yourself

for the mistrust in disregarding ourselves

I pray you will attend to every sunrise of the being you

were meant to be and come home to sunsets that settle

the dusk of unworthiness in our heart.

you are the proclamation

that should never run out.

will never run out.

for as long as you are whole and complete.

like the stars dusting off in the night sky,

complete with each days end.
