Balancing the Scales

By Jay Jordan

Libras

They say Libras are the two L’s,

a lover and a liar,

balancing both truth on one side

and deception on the other,

like scales tilted by the weight of desire.

But tell me this

how does one love without a little lie?

A soft fabrication,

a whispered promise to smooth the edges

of harsh reality.

“I’m fine,” we say, when the cracks are forming.

“Forever,” we vow, though nothing truly lasts.

Lies are the honey that coats the bitter truths, right?

The unsaid words that hold love together,

the little masks we wear

to keep the mirror from shattering when it’s too hard.

Is it deception, or is it devotion?

To shield someone from the storm

when the thunder rumbles inside you.

To paint a perfect picture

while your own edges fray.

So yes, Libras walk the line,

a lover and a liar,

caught in the tension of harmony and chaos.

Because love, my brother,

isn’t always about truth

it’s about the courage to lie,

just enough,

to keep the fire burning.
