Bibliophile
By Amberleigh Curry
Oh, to be a bibliophile!
Look here at these oaken shelves,
See a rainbow of spines, glittering titles,
And choose, if you will, your awaiting adventure.
Feel the cold rain on your skin in an old English countryside.
Petrichor scent, and the baying of a hound,
And a mystery solved by Holmes, of course.
If that’s not your speed, try traveling thirty years forward,
And seven-hundred miles north,
To fall in love with a brooding Scottish laird.
If traveling through time isn’t for you,
Try traveling to another world altogether.
One with magic, and swords, and, most exciting of all,
A dragon and boy, bonded in soul.
Fly with them, wind in your hair,
Dance with the elves in the dark, twisted wood,
And save the realm from evil’s hand!
Too outlandish? Read this instead.
It’s a book called Alex & Me, it tells the true story
Of a clever grey parrot and his love for his person.
If nothing sounds right, there’s still hundreds of choices
To take you away in some magical way.
Whichever option, the words will dance!
Oh, to be a bibliophile!
