Generalized Anxiety Disorder

By Amberleigh Curry

How can a body be so static and a mind so erratic?

Clearly, something’s gone wrong up in the attic

Don’t remember how to relax, cortisol crack addict

How are you supposed to keep doing it?

Just do it, even if you have to panic attack it

Pulling up to the agitation station, step to the platform and perform

Meanwhile, my mind’s running away with me, thoughts storm

Life’s testin’, heart arrestin’, I’m just doin’ my best and

Taking uppers by day, downers by night, only way to sleep half-right

Pharmaceutical equilibrium just to push through the delirium

This adrenal fight-or-flight is so wearisome

But I keep moving for the delusion of Elysium
