Holy Order

By Amberleigh Curry

Child, repent, for you are a sinner

Daughter, reprehensible, for your sin

How dare you do something like love

Forced bread and wine for your dinner

And forced to be quiet when the worship begins

But maybe disobey when push comes to shove

He shouts about your waiting eternal fire

Casts your abhorrent spirit out

But you know salvation is near

No filial friendship to even desire

An affection you’ll now do without

While you gleefully dare to be queer
