Veteran Enrollment
Veterans and active military members can apply for admission online and then take advantage of enrollment assistance, financial aid services and academic resources reserved for the military community.
New Students
There are two separate processes you need to complete if you plan to use your veteran benefits and apply to Bowie State. You must apply to the university and you must be sure you receive the veteran benefits to which you are entitled.
Step 1: Apply to Bowie State
When you complete your application, check “Yes” on the section below to indicate that you’re a veteran or are serving on active duty (see illustration below).
Step 2: Complete Your Certificate of Eligibility
In order to apply for your GI benefits, you must complete the Certificate of Eligibility your first semester. This certificate must remain on file. The Certificate of Eligibility is a letter/email that students receive directly from the VA informing them that they are eligible to receive their benefits. Contact your VA if you have questions about this document.
Returning Students
As a veteran, you need to to complete the Veteran Enrollment Notice Form every semester to ensure that you are certified for benefits. The benefits do not automatically roll over from one semester to another.
This form must be completed on or before the "Last Day to Add a Class" according to the published academic calendar. You will receive an email notification confirming that an enrollment certification was submitted on your behalf.
When you complete your application, check “Yes” on the section below to indicate that you’re a veteran or are serving on active duty.
