Cyber: A Career Without Borders

11:30 PM - 3:00 PM

Careers: The Human Dimension of Cyber

Cyberspace can be used to facilitate good or enable malign influences. Ultimately, how it is used will not be determined by bots but by humans. The inception of cyber was to protect the human way of life. Cyber isn’t just bits and bytes but an integral part of every facet of society - the arts, law enforcement, healthcare, education, etc. Careers are available in the private for-profit and non-profit, and public sectors. In this session, we will discuss how cyber is a reflection of our social consciousness. The diversity of threats and challenges regarding cyber requires a diversity of thought and people-people like you!

Cyberspace Social Media: The Law, the Tech, and the Human Element

You know that picture that you posted of yourself doing something illegal? You thought you deleted it, but that is not the way the underlying technology works. You know that conversation you thought was private? Think again! You know the threat you sent to that classmate you dislike? That has legal ramifications. Even if your parents aren't using your social media of choice, plenty of adults with nefarious intent are using it. While you may not think being you has value, there are others who can exploit you. In this session, we will discuss popular social media platforms and common misconceptions about privacy, responsibility, and safety.
