Celebration: International Day of Persons with Disabilities

10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Established by the United Nations in 1992, International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) aims to promote the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities. This year’s theme, “Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,” calls us to uplift voices and build a future that includes everyone.

In observance of IDPD, Bowie State University's Disability Support Services, in collaboration with Counseling Services, the Library, students with disabilities, and community partners such as the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS), Maryland Department of Disabilities, Special Olympics, and The Parents’ Place, will host a special event recognizing the achievements and contributions of individuals with disabilities.

This event will:

  • Celebrate the impact of individuals with disabilities and their contributions to our community.
  • Showcase resources and support organizations available for individuals with disabilities.
  • Provide a platform for students to share their experiences and stories.

Join us as we honor the diversity within the disability community and celebrate BSU’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
