Join the Department of Counseling and Psychological Studies as we kick off Black History Month with an engaging evening featuring award-winning author Dr. Quito J. Swan. He will present a book talk on his latest work, Born A Sufferah: Dancehall Music's Insurgent Soundscapes, followed by a dynamic DJ set.
Dr. Quito J. Swan, Professor of Africana Studies and History at The George Washington University, will explore the revolutionary power of dancehall music. Through a blend of scholarship and sound, he will take us on a journey examining how dancehall serves as a form of resistance and cultural expression, with a live DJ set embedded in the experience.
