Assefa Tibebe

Tibebe A. Assefa, PhD. is an Associate Professor of Finance. He has a PhD in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Texas – Pan American. Dr. Assefa teaches Commercial Banking, Principal of Finance, Personal Finance, and Small Business Finance, among many others. His research interests include Cryptocurrency, International Finance, Financial and Economic Development, Behavioral Finance, and Financial Markets and Institutions. He has published in several peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions, and Money; the Journal of Economics and Finance; Energy Economics; Global Business and Finance Review; the Journal of African Business; the Review of Accounting and Finance; the Journal of Financial and Economic Practice; and the Journal of Business, Economics, and Technology. Dr. Assefa, along with other Bowie State University faculty, recently submitted an application for a National Science Foundation grant; the response is expected soon. In 2022 and 2024, Dr. Assefa received grants from the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).
