Biography

Originally from the San Francisco bay area of northern California, Dr. Darla Scott currently lives in Washington, DC and enjoys working on writing and research projects with her students. 

Darla is passionate about promoting equity in education and relishes spending quality time with her family and faith community. She loves to travel and involve students in scientific inquiry for personal and professional enrichment.

Dr. Scott is a recently tenured member of the talented Bowie State University faculty.  Currently, Dr. Scott’s program of research focuses on academic risk taking and optimizing transactional instructional practices in the classroom.  Most recently, she has written two book chapters on intersectionality and tools for engaging Black girls in the classroom.
