Kim Evelyn
Dr. Evelyn’s areas of specialization include: Caribbean and Caribbean diasporic literature and studies; postcolonial literature and studies; cultural studies; and race, identity, and citizenship. Her other research interests are first-year writing, research methods, tutoring and mentorship, African American literature, and media, propaganda, and advertising. Her work has appeared in the Journal of West Indian Literature, Anthurium, South Atlantic Review, The Caribbean Writer, and Ocean State Review as well as the essay collection The Affects of Pedagogy in Literary Studies (Routledge 2023).
Before coming to Bowie State, she taught courses in composition and writing (academic, business, research, expressivist, travel, and health and disability writing), literature (Caribbean, postcolonial, British, African American, and contemporary literatures), public speaking, and interdisciplinary studies at the University of Rhode Island, Johnson & Wales University, and Providence College.
Dr. Evelyn holds many service roles on campus, including advising the Bowie State University Nu Nu Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society.
